Lily is 3 months old today. I had wonderful hopes of doing another photo shoot with her today to celebrate but she has had other plans including being fussy and sleeping. Now it is too late in the day to get good shots because there s no natural light. Hopefully tomorrow will work out better. I am still going to try to get a few pictures with her in her "3" onsie tonight.
She is smiling so much now and giggling a little bit. Usually when she giggles she stops and looks confused. Unfortunately every time she starts to smile and giggle and I pull out the camera or video camera she just stares at it. While this is cute, I have not been able to get all that many photos of her beautiful smile.
She is also starting to try to roll over from front to back. Every time we put her on her tummy she starts to throw her upper body back and her legs up so that she is balancing on just her tummy. She will also try to push with one of her legs and arms until she is part way rolled over. The only thing that is stopping her is that other arm, the one she is trying to roll over. If she could just figure out where to put it she would have it.

Bedtimes
So we decided to start implementing a bed time routine in hopes that she will go to sleep around the same time every night. I am hoping this will help her get on a routine for naps as well so that Sean and my mom can plan the days they have her better instead of just wondering when she is going to eat or nap. We tried to pick a time that fit into when she was typically going to bed because I figured that trying to force her to sleep when she wasn't tired, or stay awake when she was, was just going to make for some very rough evenings. Right now her bedtime is 10pm. She was already falling asleep sometime between 10 and 11 anyway. The last two nights have gone VERY well. In fact last night she was completely awake when I put her in her crib at 10:10 and she didn't make a single sound and must have been asleep by 10:25 when Sean got home because again, no sounds. She is actually still asleep. I am so happy that we have such a good little sleeper. I am sure if we ever have another one we probably will not be so lucky.
Here are finally some pictures

Daddy was making silly faces at her

Daddy love Lily

She was not so happy with getting her photo taken on her 2 month birthday.

This was taken shortly after I took the 2 off her onsie...I guess she just didn't like that because for the rest of the photos she was smiling.

No Time
Having a 10 week old, working full time, and trying to keep the house in some type of order has led me to realize that I have no time. Since I have no time the blog has not been updated in entirely too long. I can't believe it has been almost a month and I apologize to everyone that enjoys the updates on Lily. I promise that I will work to fit this into my schedule a bit more.
She is getting so big. At her last appointment, which was last week, she weighed 11.44lbs and was 23in tall. That means she is in the 65th percentile for weight and 73rd for height. She is definitely going to be tall like her daddy. At that visit she also had to get a lot of shots =( It is definitely not easy to watch some stranger stick a needle into your daughter. At least she didn't cry for very long with them and was actually asleep in her carrier before the even hit the office door. We also had to talk to her pediatrician about starting to supplement her feedings with formula. While I am trying to feed her breastmilk as much as possible she is just wanting to eat more than I am producing. A lot of this started when I went back to work and we had to introduce bottles of pumped breastmilk. I think she started to realize that it is a lot easier to drink out of a bottle instead of me and fusses every time I try to breastfeed. That and the pumping started making my supply drop. We are doing things to try to increase my supply but I'm not noticing that much improvement. The good thing is that she really doesn't seem to mind the formula.
Lily is smiling all the time now and is getting very close to giggling. She keeps making sounds that sound like the start of a giggle when she is smiling and cooing at us but then stops and looks kinda confused. She is also getting super strong and can hold her head up when we are holding her. She loves being held upright now instead of being cradled so that she can turn her head and look around. She is definitely a social little one and doesn't like to go to sleep if anything is going on.
I found an online community of other mothers in the Columbus, Ohio area. It is great to be able to have a place to express my thoughts to other women that have gone or are still going through the same things. Most of the moms have children a year or more older than Lily so they are giving me lots of advice. A group of us even got together for dinner the other night without any kids or husbands. It was nice to have an evening to myself. When I came home from dinner though I didn't want to put Lily down and just cuddled with her the rest of the evening.
I will try to upload some pictures in the next couple of days. For some reason the website keeps giving me an error tonight every time I try.

Smiles
I finally got some good video of Lily. I have taken many videos during the last month, but this is the first one where she actually smiled. All the rest are basically her sleeping or crying. Please ignore me talking in the background. I need to figure out this video editing software so that I can get rid of sound.
Work, sleep, and no pacis
It did not take me nearly as long to get adjusted to going back to work as I anticipated. There are definitely times that I am tired there, but I am able to make it through the day. I really miss Lily throughout the day and am still trying to figure out ways besides winning the lottery to make it so that I can stay home with her. It really helps that she can be with either Sean or my mom when I'm at work though. I don't know how I would be able to handle leaving her at a daycare.
She is still doing great with sleep for the most part. But as you can tell by me writing this post at 4am things aren't 100% perfect yet. She woke up this morning around 3:30 hungry so I fed her and she fell asleep so I put her back in her crib and she woke up. Now she is wide awake making silly faces and noises at me and smiling huge smiles. In case you didn't notice, I said put her back in her CRIB! She has slept for the past 2 nights in her crib. She had been sleeping in her bassinet in her room but always cried when I would put her in the crib. Friday night we put her in and she fussed for a little bit, but then went peacefully to dreamland. Last night I put her in there and she only had about 5 minutes of making noises, not even crying, before she was out.
The most amazing thing about her falling asleep in 5 minutes was that she didn't have her pacifier. Sean and I talked on Friday and decided that she was becoming to attached to her paci and that we wanted to limit her time with it. There were times she could put herself to sleep without it and could self soothe if she was crying, but it would go a lot faster if she had her paci. I think we would just put it in her mouth because it was the quick and easy fix. It had finally gotten to the point that if she wasn't completely asleep or completely awake and smiling then she had it in her mouth. She would sit contently with it in her mouth, but if she didn't have it then it almost always mean tears. Yesterday I decided that it was going to be the weekend of no paci. She did surprisingly well without it. I think it was more of an adjustment for me because I had to find other ways to comfort her than it was for her. I will admit that she does have it in her mouth right now, but that is only because it is now 4:30am and I was hoping that it was going to put her back to sleep faster because I am barely staying awake. Hopefully today will go as smoothly as yesterday did. I think we are going to watch the game at some of our friends' house so we might cave and give the paci then because I don't think they all want a screaming 7 week old.

Work
Yesterday was my first day back to work. Lily did great sleeping the night before, but I did not. My mind was racing most of the night worrying about everything. I wasn't worried about leaving Lily and going back to work, but that I had everything prepared to take in the morning. I was worried that I wouldn't take enough stuff for my mom and that she would need more breastmilk or something. I was worried that I would forget the stuff I needed to take to work. Everything worked out fine. I do need to work out a schedule with my work for pumping because that didn't go so well, but other than that it wasn't that bad. Everything just fell into place at work (well as much as it can at that hectic place) and I felt like I never even left. I guess Lily did great at my mom's and that the dogs are finally starting to get used to her. Today Sean gets to be with her during the day and I get off work early so that he can go into work this evening.
